I ship on the 20th of this month. I,ll be gone for 13 weeks and leaving my truck in a garage. Would the battery go dead if I leave it sitting like it is or will I need to disconnect it?

Truck should be fine, unless you have some kinda constant power draw.

Thanks for your service and good luck!

Personally I would disconnect. There is always some draw for things like clock etc. Probably would not go dead in that time, but it could. Either that or get a charger that can be left on.

Awesome, Thanks NCSU. I hate to see it sitting though. I might give my dad the keys to keep the engine from just sitting.

I am typically deployed 6months out of the year. Whenever I go, I leave my truck with the folks. They use it occasionally for work around the house and make sure it is started and driven at least every couple weeks for me.

Works out very well.

First off thank you for your service and good luck!

When my brother goes off to college, he usually leaves his car with me. I make sure it's atleast started and taken around the block every week or 2. Just to make sure the tires don't get flat spots and that the battery is ok. If I were you I would leave it with your folks just to make sure it gets a little exercise every now and then

Thanks for your service. Just a small word of wisdom, learn to spell "Corps" before you get there. Really.

Here's hoping you don't end up being the FI's "Field B*tch" during basic -- good luck!

If you can, it wouldn't be a bad idea to throw some Sta-Bil in the tank and hook-up a battery tender if it's going to sit that long.

Let me know if you meet a guy named Steven Vandersteig. He is a friend of mine that will be there when you arrive as well.
