i just went there last sunday and it was pretty fun! just wanted to know if there were people close enough to get a meet up and go to the dunes.

 

I was just there 2 weeks ago and then again this past weekend. We go every year the 3rd weekend in August (this was our 9th annual trip). This past weekend we didn't hit the Dunes but I was in Hart for a Benefit. Hart is 10 minutes south of Silver Lake. It's fun, but people are getting more and more stupid out there. I witnessed 4 accidents alone just on Saturday a couple of weeks back.

 

I haven't been there with my 98, but I've been there plenty of times with my old 90. We camp just down the street from the entrance.

I went on the Mac Dunes ride last yr, Silver Lake is only about 30 mins from me, I am not however going to take my truck on the sand.

 

i didnt see any accidents when i went, but i heard there was one on monday. it is definitely a place where you need to aware of your surroundings. especially with dirt bikes.
