Just so I can say I rained on somebody's parade today, the E550 Mercedes will smoothly run away from the 2011 Boss and do it in style. Turns the 1/4 mile a full half second quicker too. But the Mercedes is running 565HP versus the Boss.

 

How much more money is the Mercedes compared to the Boss?

 

Yeah, spend $100K and if it doesn't beat a Mustang, then you are an idiot for buying it. And, nobody knows the 1/4 miles times for the Boss 302 yet, so how can you say the Mercedes is 1/2 second quicker?

 

The Boss Mustang runs the 1/4 mile in 12.8 seconds averagely for 5 stages. The Mercedes runs it in 12.2 averagely for the same amount of stages. The Boss has already seen most of the ARC's so this is far from a secret. You'll also see a Focus hybrid and an all electric Tercel at the ARC's too.

 

The e550 is around 56,000, so if we compare that to the Shelby GT500 at 48,000.

Where are you seeing an E550 with 565hp everything I see is 382 hp 1/4 mile in 13.6.

 

I think he is referring to the AMG version of the 550. They are very fast, but they are much than 56K, more like $100K. Nobody knows what the production Boss 302 will run. Hell, my GT runs 12.8 quaters with 3.73 axle and the manual 6 speed. I'm guessing the Boss will top that.

 

The only E model I see on AMG's website is the E63 its a 6.3l v8 with 518hp and 465 ft-lb. In the build your own if you select the E63 it says 0-60 is 4.3 sec.
According to motertrend the 2011 gt has a 0-60 of 4.3.

I agree. Too bad they didn't have this motor for the previous body style. Would have been closer to the original.
