We're Doomed
What's up with Jersey.......two of the top trashy shows, "Jersey Shore" and "Housewives of New Jersey". Jersey should be so proud to be represented.
I admit it....I watch both.

I'm going off topic which, as the original poster, I'm allowed to do under the Luxembourg Convention for Internet Communications, Paragraph 427, Section 8 . . .
If you live in that area, and you like cheesecake . . .
then I was just introduced to the BEST. CHEESECAKE. EVER.
I was skeptical when I saw the place, I was skeptical of the the best cheesecake claims (via friends who took me there) . . .
but seriously, it was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pantagis Diner on Woodbridge Ave, in Edison.
All I can say is I've never had anything like it. It really is that good. (They make it fresh each day on the premises).
You've gotta try it.

Arrived on the right coast today.
While driving into the Garden State I stopped off at the Menlo Park Mall (they have an Apple store there and I bought an iPad . . . But that's not why we're doomed)
While walking thru the mall I passed three girls (at various times) who were Snookie clones.
Seriously . . . They think she's worthy of emulation. . .
This is the mindset of today's youth.
We're doomed.
By they way, iPad, pretty cool (as long as you use it for it's intended purpose)

This thread sure went everywhere! From cheesecake, to Jersey shore trash, to beating a kid (hitting a kid does not discipline them, so don't do it).
Yup, I know where Pantagis is. Never been there though. There are so many diners around this area and in New Jersey that I never actually made it to that one. The good ones usually do bake fresh daily on premises.
The show does not represent New Jersey or New Jersey Italians. Anyone that thinks that it does is naive.

Beating kids may not be the solution as LT says, but.... The lack of punishment for kids ( I do not consider the time out in your room a punishment. Now day’s kids also can hold their parents ransom. We know a single mother whose daughter in elementary school told the teacher her mother did not feed her. Social services were called and the child was taken into protective custody, The child recanted but it was the following day that she was reunited with her mother. It was determined that there was plenty of food in the fridge and that the child was mad because she did not get her way.
We know another family where the oldest daughter around 15 had a runaway friend hiding in her room. The father kicked the runaway out of the house, the daughter called social services and told them her father beat her. The father was taken into custody and prohibited to go back to the family home. The other children and wife all collaborated the same story that the father never did hit the child. Months of family court etc...
( the wife used to do community volunteer work, this is where she saw so much of this type of crap)
I think the raising of kids is not all that easy and with the influence of other kids and the lack of strict parenting the new generation of kids are selfish and self adsorbed spoilt pansy little girls.
The kids because of having everything handed to them have a sense of entitlement, wait until they get ion to the work place and realize that hard work and a starting wage does not get everything they want as fast as they want it.

I too see weird 'look-a-likes' walking the streets, but deep down, as much as I hate it, I know it was no different then when the latest fad hit back when I was a tween-ager...
I don't find it a big deal. You all know you'd been all over a free car or a ride to school, too. Everyone want's a free lunch but no one likes to see someone else get one first.

I never said abuse your brat kids, I just said give them a good *** beating when they deserve it; there's a big difference.
Kids need to learn there are consequences in life, real consequences, not made-up imaginary ones.
I was walking in the mall the other day with my wife, I see this young mother dragging her little 8 year old through the mall, and as they walk by the ice cream place, the little princess starts shrieking at the top of her voice "I WANT I SQUEEM", finally the mother just gives in, buys the brat kid a cone, and the kid finally shuts up.
This my friends is the problem in a nut shell. While I'm no Dr Phil, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that this type of approach is only enabling the behaviour, and will make it harder for the parent later, while doing absolutely nothing in helping the brat kid.
If that was me, my mom or dad would've dragged me outa of the mall, my feet not touching the ground, and my *** would've been red for a week.
"I'll give you something to cry about boy"
And that's it.
Next time I wouldn't even dare start my nonsense because I know what would happen. ----> Behave badly = Suffer consequences.
After a while you don't behave badly anymore because you know what's coming if you do. It's not all that complicated.
Where are the consequences today? Idiot mom just rewarded idiot kids behaviour with an ice cream.
Then when idiot kid gets a little older, they pump them full of a bunch of drugs for all these made-up illnesses we didn't have when I was a kid.
ADD, hyperactive, kids on Ritalin etc.
Give me a break. It's all nonsense because nobody wants to do the right thing, everyone is laxidasical or whatever the word is, and our society suffers for it, why?
Because parents today are too lazy to discipline their kids properly. It's much easier to just buy an ice cream and shut the little princess up than actually deal with the problem.

Why is it that ONLY in 'Jersey they call it the "Shore"???
Mrs zaps sister lives in Little Ferry and she always says "Shore"
Everywhere else near the ocean it's the "Beach"...
And NO I have never watched that idiotic show..
If nobody gave a crap then these shows would not exist.
When the Gov. has to issue a statement that "New Jersey is NOT anything like that show"...
Well...
That's pretty SAD.
