Wrangler ATS Load range C

Got lucky today and found a set of new takeoffs, GY Wrangler ATS load range c's for a great price.........going for install this week. The question is do I go with Nitrogen filled or just air? I run the tires at 40 psi. Lets get the opinions going.

Nitrogen is a waste. Just use 40 psi.

If the nitrogen is free, then take it. If not, stick with standard "air", since it's already 78% nitrogen...

I have a very hard time seeing what is lucky about putting Goodforayears on your truck. The ATS is absolute garbage! I have had a few sets that came as OE and have never made it to the wear bars. Every time I have replaced them before they wore out.

I have to say I have had just the opposite results, Had no problem with them up to 40k and still had tread on them when I got rid of the truck. YMMV.

Had mine on for almost two years now, they still look fairly new and ride great.

In my experience if you use your 4x4 at all or you ever drive on gravel roads or across any kind of rocky terrain, Goodyears are a total waste of rubber. They are a very soft compound and big chunks of them rip out at the first sign of any stress over rocks.

I've had three F-150s with seven different sets of tires on them. Of those seven sets four have been goodyears, not a single set of the goodyears was worth a crap.

2001 F-150
Came with RT/S that were completely ate up by driving about 40 miles down a gravel road. The Ford dealer prorated them and put on a set of AT/S. They were slightly better but 20K later were getting very slick on wet roads. The tread was still very deep but the grip was gone. I traded the truck off about that time.

2003 F-150
Came with the same RT/S as the 2001, by 20k they were doing the same as the replacement AT/S on the 2001. I replaced them with a set of Yokahama ATs which were a world better. The old goodyears are still sitting in my garage if you want them come get 'em. I put 25k on the Yokos before trading the truck. The tires were still doing fine; wet traction was still just fine. I would buy another set if they made them to fit the 2005.

2005 F-150
This truck came with the AT/S from the lot. I managed to suffer through 60k with them, there was plenty of tread left but after losing the back end twice on wet roads at freeway speeds I had had enough. They were replaced with Bridgestone Revos. Great tires but did not last, at 35k they were into the wear bars but still had better wet traction than the news goodyears (either version). The Revos were replaced with Toyo ATs, a good tire with acceptable wet traction about on par with the Yokos but not quite as good as the Revos. The plus side is $100 less per tire.

My conclusion, if you run goodyears keep your insurance paid up and the deductible low. There's a good chance you will need it once the rain starts. I’ve had four different sets in two tread patterns that all suck.

Got them put on today! Got 56,000 miles on them and still 5/32 left on the old ones. My neighbor, the guy I bought the truck from said that when the truck was new he went into places he had no right going and got out everytime. Usually without even spinning the tires. All said and done 4 ATS takeoffs with 14/32 installed and ballanced for $600.00.
