I'd have to agree with you, the pearl was a good introduction and I moved onto and love my Tour!

Very true, the BB lacks the eye candy of some of the other platforms but makes up for it in reliability and efficiency. Symbian S60 also does this but has a little more eye candy and features. Sadly very few handsets with this OS make it to the US. Both of these systems use a much better encryption method than the iPhone. In fact the iPhone uses almost no encryption although Apple has promised to address this in the future.

Something to remember, Symbian and BB were both developed by phone companies to work on phones. They are much more efficient at using data and battery power. Android was developed by PC guys for a phone and Apple was developed for a music player and put on a phone. This is why a BB and iPhone can load the same web page and the BB will use less data. It also explains why a Symbian phone can run a slower processor and still be faster than an iPhone. The eye candy requires more processing power which eats batteries faster.

Use whatever makes you happy but don't believe the hype, the iPhone is not the most capable phone on the planet. In fact, most of the "new features" on the iPhone 4 are marketing kool-aide. Nokias and Sony-Erricksons have had front facing video cameras for 5+ years. In Europe they have been using video calls and Skype over 3G for several years to anyone with a Skype account, not just an iPhone 4 over Wi-Fi. It was the US carriers that blocked this function here. Samsung has had phones that record in 720p on the market for a while. The other phones on the market that do this also have a HDMI output. The screen resolution is the only truly new thing on the iPhone 4 and even that has been embellished. The resolution is not so tight that the human eye can not distinguish the pixels even though Apple says it is.

i find that most people that hate the iphone are ones that have never owned one. ive had my current 2g iphone since they came out. sure it has a few dead pixels and is a little beat up, but i have never had a phone last this long. ever. it has by far been the best phone i have ever owned. i look forward to picking up the 4 here pretty soon.

I'm sure the iphone is great I just feel bad for thos pathetic souls who wait in line for 5 hours to get it, when if they just used their third gen iphone for another 6 months, they could get the 4 for considerably cheaper. I'm referring to my brother in law, who is still in college working part time, while is mother pays his phone bill, absolutly NO NEED for a phone with those capabilities.

It is a sad mentality to get all worked up over a cell phone, becuase you get HD youtube....

I've got nothing against the iphone, but At&T coverage sucks in my area and places I frequent. This is a fact, based on a good majority of my friends all have iphones. When ever we go camping, boating, etc, they are mostly SOL when it comes to coverage. I just switched from Sprint (which also sucked for coverage in my area) to Verizon and couldn't be happier. I've had Verizon blackberry's through work since 03' (actually had one of those blueberry's back then ). I've been so impressed with my work issued blackberry's, that I actually picked one up for personal use. I got the Storm2 this past xmas and I'm happy with it. It's no iphone, but it is a neat toy with some decent apps. I'm mostly just happy that I can talk on the phone and not drop calls 5+ times on my 35 min commute home.

That said, if Apple ever introduces the iphone to Verizon, I'd probably pick one up, as long as I could get the same insurance plan I have on my crackberry.

ChrisT - So reception at the campground and the ability to conduct 30+ minute calls while driving are now critical factors in a phone?

Man, I must be getting old, lol.
