Nope. If you drive it should have a stiff feel in the wheel. Just dont go over like 30 mph really and you should be fine.

Yes, it can. If you're testing the 4x4 on dry pavement you can feel the system bind up. That's what breaks parts. Find a suitable area to test it, like some gravel or dirt.

Or just engage it without turning. You should be able to feel/hear the difference. I know I can whenever I turn it on.
