The Official, I Felt That EarthQuake! Thread.
I was in Novato, California (just north of San Francisco) for the 1989 Loma Prieta quake, that's enough for me!
One way to find out is to come live in earthquake territory. Prefer to stay in Florida? Either way you are not safe! Earthquakes cause Tsunamis but your area has no history of underwater earthquakes. Instead, a "Mega Tsunami" triggered by a land slid will come your way and your earthquake free area will be,.....well, lets say, history:

Damn, guess I spoke too soon. Had a 3.6 (don't laugh too hard your Californian's) this morning just south of me in MD. My bedroom ceiling fan started making noise, which woke me up, then the house started shaking a bit. I jumped outta bed like "WTF is going on!!"
First earth quake I have ever experienced.

5am, the house is gently swaying and a rumbling sound like distant thunder. Sit up in bed and a sudden jolt bangs my head against the wall. Any harder and we're going to start breaking stuff. The noise is fairly loud, echoing down the valley. Both the swaying and noise gradually subside.
