Read this thread before buying a new f150!!!

Ford Dealerships are offering or going to be offering HUGE deals/rebates on ALL 2010 F-150's because they are hiding information that will make you have MAJOR BUYER'S REMORSE in a few months.

I have a source who has revealed that all General Managers/Franchise Owners for Ford Dealerships have been sworn to keep the following a secret from the public and from their own staff...

The big announcement is that the 2011 F-150 will get an average of 25-MPG city/hwy. My source told me that Ford already anticipates much anger from people who are going to be buying F-150's between now and when the announcement is officially made. They don't want to tell anyone until enough of the current inventory has been liquidated. Scammers!

If you want to buy a 2010 F-150 because of the great deal...you may want to think about holding out.

Let me know what you think...

Ask and you shall receive:

The only thing that gets me is that Ford's commercials ARE saying the 5.0 mustang is getting 26mpg. BUT the F150 is far heavier and geared differently, so yes refer to the flags for my overall opinion.

The ecoboost v6 is apprently going to claim to get that on the highway...

We will see though. It might in a regular cab, short bed, no optioned truck. I doubt it in a 4x4 screw.

Depending on how stout they make the widdle twin turbo v6 I might buy one and see just how much power that engine can put out.

I don't know about anyone else here, but I don't have buyer's remorse. I did not buy my truck to be an econo box or a race car. It is fine the way it is. I pretty much guarantee that the new truck with new features will be MUCH more expensive, given the rebates and deals that have been out there for months now on the 2010 models.

Hello and welcome to yesterday

http://www.autoblog.com/2010/05/21/s...0-ecoboost-v6/

The 2011 Ford F-150 EcoBoost is one of the worst kept secrets out of Dearborn, and the crew at PickupTrucks.com have managed to snag some of the first shots of a SuperCab FX4 model undergoing testing.
Got to love this part :

Sales are expected to begin later this year or in early 2011, and it's safe to assume that the EcoBoosted F-150 will carry a slight price premium over its V8-powered counterpart.
So if this "great deal" on 2010 is true, best jump on it, seems the 2011 will be back to normal range, and the higher MPG version will cost even more. How much the premium will be will determine how many miles one would have to drive to recoup the costs.

Thanks for joining to provide the members on this site the "inside scoop", from last month.....

Do you think that will hold up as well as a V8 , or be another money pit?

I saw that commercial, but for like a half a second it flashed V6.

Got me if it will work for a truck application, I have not looked into it at all ( not something that I am interested in purchasing ).

Time will tell if this is a good platform for the F-150.
Don't see why not with the current V-6 in the F-150s. They seem to do just as well long term as the 2 V-8 options.
The current Ford chief from Boeing seems to understand the market for selling trucks just as well as selling planes. Make it good, make it right and it will sell itself.

He has worked hard to trim the Ford dealer chain ( 5 years before the forced closure of GM & Chrysler dealers ) shore up the ready cash on hand ( when the markets were liquid and rates were good ), and now stream lining the Lincoln brand to go head to head with Lexus & Cadillac, while killing off the Mercury line in Q4 of this year ( to center the focus on the Lincoln brand ).
I don't see him ( knowingly ) allowing a misapplication of engine into the F-150 platform, damaging the Ford name. I would also not want to be the staff that played hide the data with him ( to meet an objective ), there might be a bunch of new openings in the engineering department if that happens.

If the thing that makes you decide whether or not to buy an F-150 is the MPG then maybe you should be looking somewhere else. It's a pickup truck, it isn't designed to get good mileage. It is designed to move large/heavy objects and pull trailers. If that's what you need then MPG won't make a difference.

I rarely use my truck in a truck application. But it is there when I need it.
I just know quality HP comes from cubic inch. Squeezing more HP from less cubic inch, usually ends up needing much more maintenance.

Just my .02

2011 f150

Was at the dealership 2day getting routine maintenance on the truck. Was chatting with the salesman that sold me my truck and he did echo what has been said above. The 2011 F150 is supposed to come with engine options of the ecoboost V6, a 5 liter V8 and the 6.2 liter Raptor V8. The V6 ecoboost and 5 liter are supposed to crank out 400 horses with the ecoboost doing it with great MPG. Maybe not all true but some truth in it probably.
