Why I hate "Grunge"...
Why I hate "Grunge"...
Bands like this never stood a chance in a world where everyone was looking for the next Nirvana...

There was some good grunge music in the 90's. I personally can't stand Nirvana and everyone acts like they were the god of grunge. They could not write a song to save their life.
There were some other good bands however and I still listen to:
Alice in Chains
Audioslave
Bush
Collective Soul (sorta)
Live
Pearl Jam
Silverchair
Soundgarden
Stone Temple Pilots

Luckily the cry of love cd was released domestically, but anyone who blindly espouses the "free market" never tried to buy traditional hard rock or metal in the states during the 90's.
Thankfully Europe & Japan picked up the slack, but there's obviously a huge price penalty. I don't know how many albums I replaced on cd with imports that still to this day aren't available domestically.

I was being a little over the top, but it's not a blind statement. There are exceptions, and there was good music in the 90's, but new rock on the radio is almost unheard of today... And it's not because kids don't like it. Grunge didn't have legs, and Hip/Hop has taken over and filled the void it created. Thankfully, Asia and Europe didn't completely succumb to the grunge fad.

Its nice to find smaller, unknown bands because they still produce music they set out to produce and haven't sold out yet.
I still like listening to good grunge like STP, Sound Garden, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Audioslave, and Seven Mary Three (Cumbersome). A lot of the music nowadays sounds pretty crappy. Everything sounds exactly the same.

Do you mean "grungy?"
I liked Grunge when it first came out. Alice in Chains and STP especially, but I didn't know at the time it was going to cost me any other band that didn't try to fit that mold.

I too, like some grunge...STP, Alice in Chains and even Metallica (some songs)...the problem is that the drug of choice for a majority of these bands, is heroin. And heroin has a nasty habit of killing people.
Mr. Brownstone, good song, but not really grunge.
I like grunge. As stated before, AIC, Pearl Jam, STP, Bush are my favorites. IMHO I hate todays music, like someone else posted it sounds the same and is fake. I like how the
90's had its own unique sound.

Best thing from Nirvana is Dave Grohl. I've seen Foo Fighters 3 times. Always a great show. Dave is funny as hell, interacts with the crowd. Loved CD "In Your Honor" Like some of their acoustic stuff, but not as much as when they are amped up. Red Hot Chili Pepper's "blood sugar sex magic" is amazing. I had never listened to them until that album had been out for at least a year, then got into it. Amazing work all around. Smashing Pumpkin's "Gish" and "Siamese Dream" were awesome, then they got too pretentious.
Now I listen to The Black Keys, some White Stripes,...latest AIC album is good. Haven't listened to any new Pearl Jam in years..kinda faded away on me. Still love all Social Distortion, Bodeans' "Joe Dirt Car" cd.(not grunge, but great live music) I like Green Day, ( again don't take yourself too seriously, boys. ) Still love the classic rock. Cranked up Three Dog Night's "Never been to Spain" and "Momma Told Me" on way to work the other day. Always can listen to SRV, Tom Petty: GNR's Appetite for Destruction was great. Still holds it's own against any new rock out today. Too many one hit wonder bands... I guess we are a short attention span society. It's so easy to be that way with how accessible music is today. Download almost anything, then keep it on your ipod, never actually holding the album, cd case, etc...It's like it doesn't really exist. My dorm room was wall to wall with CD long box covers. Remember those? Now there are no album liner notes, no pictures to look at while listening to that piece of music for the first time. I don't care about the digital booklet. When do you really look at it? There's so much less anticipation about a new album coming out. I used to have to plan buying music, and could only buy 1 or 2 albums or CD's at a time. I would spend so much time deciding between a couple of artist's not wanting to waste my money on 1 or 2 good songs and filler and loyalty to an artist, knowing I owned every piece of music they made. Now there are so many singles, movie soundtrack tunes that suck enough to not make it onto an album,....It get's cloudy.
Then there is stuff that some people love that I really just don't get where the quality is (Slipknot).
Then when you want to give up, something else surprises you (Hellyeah).
Sorry, kinda forgot where I was going with all that....:o
