The single most important thing, is to make sure it will start when the engine is hot. I don't mean over heated. But when they won't hotstart, it is time for a rebuild.
I love stand ups

I used to race jet skis. It is highly modded. Check it out carefully. Mod skis can be difficult and typically have been run hard. Not to mention you will need the ability to tune it.

What do you plan to do with it? Just ride or race?

I'd be careful then. I'd find a stock unit if I were you. Those Yamaha 650 and 701 engines are pretty much bullet proof in stock form.

If I coldn't put it in the water and ride it before I bought it, I wouldn't even look at it. The tollerances on jet pumps are very precise. More than a 1/16 of an inch clearance around an impeller, can make it a dog. Plus any dings in the leading edge of the impeller can cause a great amount of cavitation.
No ride no buy!!!!!!

It comes WITH the Trailer and it's local.
In their ad they have "need it gone".
Flash $2800 and say "that's all I have" and you just might end up Towing it home...

What are you going to do if you drive all the way to Santa Clarita and it has "problems"?
You've now gone on a (roughly) 800 mile trip for nothing.
