What do you think its worth?

Found a really good looking, original '76 F-250 4wd (looks like a hi-boy). 360/4speed. Silver w/ silver and black interior.
No rust at all, body, doors, floor solid as a rock, a few small dings here and there. Haven't driven it yet but owner says it runs well, stops on a dime, and doesn't shimmy. Body and suspension sit up straight, no leaning or sagging anywhere. Looks maintained but is showing some age.

He owns an express lube in town so he really knows about vehicles.
We talked it over for a few minutes now at lunch and he asked me what I'd give him for it. I told him I'd come back and drive it one day after work this week; more than likely one day next week.

I'd like to think he'd take $1,200 for it but I know better. I'm thinking in the $2,500-$3,500 range. I'm thinking buy it for $1,500, slap a $500 silver paint job on it and chrome rims and find some high school kid to get his parents to buy it for him for $7,000

No rust at all? So it's been repainted or not? If it's as nice as you described you're dreaming at buying it for $1,500. If you do get it for $1,500 then the guy is an idiot! I'd like to see a picture of it. I love the 5th generation F series trucks. Owned a couple of them in fact.

Some surface rust on the hood and roof and you can easily tell its the original coat of silver paint. No rust holes in the body. Its solid and straight. 1 dent in the front right fender that needs pounded out; not bad.

I'll stop by and snap a pic on my blackberry after work and post it tomorrow.

Im looking on ebay, and from what I see, $1,500 may not be too little, especially in central Mississippi
