Rick Perry is actually a Rino that tries to portray himself as conservative. He's not all everyone seems to think he is.

"For example, some aspects of the law turn law enforcement officers into immigration officials by requiring them to determine immigration status during any lawful contact with a suspected alien, taking them away from their existing law enforcement duties, which are critical to keeping citizens safe."
Sounds like he's afraid to take a risk. Hmm... The coyote thing wasn't risky...

This is exactly why I don't like him, he is not truly conservative. When it comes to tough issues like this he always comes up short.

The problem with immigration is deeper than just the black and white of legal vs illegal. It is real easy to say...if illegal get out. I understand the mentality behind it and on the surface it seems reasonable.

The problems with it go much deeper. For example, there are many illegals that have been here their whole lives. Their parents may have brought them over when they were babies and they have been here 20 years or more. They may have no recollection of Mexico or wherever they originated from. How do you handle that situation?

Moreover, some illegals are married to legal citizens. You're going to be breaking up families. Or even a greater problem...women that have birthed children in the US and the kids are citizens but the mom isn't.

These are tough questions and need consideration. It is easy to get the majority behind such bills because the ramifications don't affect most. That is the danger of a Democracy (majority rules) versus a Republic (representative) government.

It's all part of the ugly thing called politics. He is in an election race and he needed to try to secure the Hispanic vote. How many would he have gotten had he not said that? I hate politics.

Just think about it. The coyote episode happened in February but just became a news story. That got him votes from the NRA and pistol packers, as well as ranchers and farmers with livestock. All the people with small pets that are endangered by coyotes, too. Now he makes this statement to get the Hispanic vote. Politics as usual. He is a pretty good politician, even if he does spend too much time on his hair. LOL

No I am not saying America is a Democracy. It is a Representative Republic. Many Americans think it is a Democracy and they are wrong. None of us want a Democracy because while it sounds good, it puts those that aren't the majority in a precarious position.
