I need some help.

I had a old Xm raido given to me just a bit ago.

I have a AVH-P3100 DVD in the truck right now.

The xm I was given is a older one I think its gray and has a big screen and turn ****.

its a Xm xpress.

it has some setup like this with it.

I have no XM antenna.

Can i use this? where can i get a antenna? do I need it with this XM adapter thing?

I am guessing I can hide all my wires behind the dash, and the fm adapter lugs into the xm radio and get power signal from my truck antenna?

thoughts?

Where can i put it at to hide it so the wires can not be seen? I have a 06 F-150 XLT 40/20/40 seat.

Thanks.

looks like the unit will be powered by from a power outlet or cigarette lighter.

you then plug something into the antenna port on the radio. you will still have to tune your radio to a station but this setup is as good as a direct patch cable.

you will always need a separate antenna designed for xm radio. this can be picked up at your local electronics store, best buy, or search for xm radio antenna online. crutchfield.com is a trusted online dealer, although they can be a little on the pricier side, but the satellite antennas are priced competitively.

the last setup i did i routed the wires into the bezel surrounding the radio so you only had a small length of wire visible. this placed the unit in the center of the dash.

ok, I have the cig lighter plug, and I see what you mean about that little box.

I guess its like a intercept box, I plug my truck ant into it, then plug it into the cd player, and its like a direct connect cable to the radio?

What I thought about doing was this.

I wonder how much one of the controller things are for a xm to hook to my dvd player, its xm ready.

the antenna is 17.95 at crutch field.

Not the best example pic, but I found it exactly like that, red circles and all.

I thought of drilling a prem mount on the top where the little rubber tray goes, and drilling a hold for the wires, even if I take it out, the ribber tray hides the holes.

OR

Using the other circled area to mount the radio, but it would be hard to reach there.

thats called a
XM XMFM1 FM Modulator
I guess according to crutch field, and I can apparantly use it to plug my xm radio into instead of using my cig plug.

I suppose it powers the raido off the ant plug on the dvd player?

Man those direct to cd player cables are high! and they require programing? thats crazy.
