All drag races I've seen between these two cars have the mustang killing the camaro. Shoot, it was barely slower 0-60 when it had the 4.6. Now with 100 more hp than last year's model, it scoots! 0-60 in 4.3 vs. the camaro's 4.7. That's a pretty big margin
to add: where are you seeing the camaro with the higher mph? It says mustang @ 87 mph and camaro at 79 mph.

No way in hell the 2010 ss does 79 in the 1/8. My old 2001 SS with just intake, exhaust and nitto dr's did 82 in the 1/8 and 107 in the 1/4 with a 2.0 60ft. The 2010 should be around 86-87.
You're right. I must have gone dyslexic when I saw that BS.

Now you can say you've seen one review in which the Mustang didn't out accelerate the SS.
The cars are pretty dog-gone close now. They even share the fact that their ergonomics suck for someone over 6 feet tall and 200 lbs. After sitting in both, I've decided neither is a good fit. I still might suffer through a little discomfort for a Z28 or a GT500 though. The Challenger is a much better fit for me, but it's still a Dodge.
I gotta say I'd take either car
but definitely the Mustang over the Camaro (I just can't betray Ford like that!
). Plus I really like the interior of the Mustang...camaro, not so much.

If you'll notice, in that video they all had the same tires, too. Which is something most tests don't take into account. When the 2011 Mustang hits the streets in August, we'll know what it has to offer. Ford has a history of sending out "hot" press cars, so we really don't know squat yet. I hope it is that fast. I'm just not going to bury my head up Ford's butt, and pretend that first video was a good representation of how things are going to play out between these two cars in August.
August? They are coming out now. We'll know sooner than that. Having been a test "dummy" for jet skis in the past, all OEMs send out "hot" (not stolen) units to press events. They are tuned perfectly, etc.
"Hot" and perfectly tuned are not the same thing. Sure. Ford's not the only manufacturer to send out press cars with more HP than advertised, only to leave people scratching their heads when the production models hit the street; but, they are notorious for it.
Just a more aggressive tune can make a huge difference over conservatively tuned stock vehicles. Usually, nobody knows why the press cars were better, because nobody takes them apart to investigate.
I've seen August, and I've seen mid to late summer (Which is about August.) as the release date. I've even read that release could be delayed, while trying to clean up some possible recall issues. Not sure what those issues are, but there IS a brand new power plant being introduced.
3.7s are starging to hit lots. I haven't seen a 5.0 yet.
With the skis, many of the manufacturers would also ahve ignitions on the press models that didn't make it into the production models. Easy part to hide/disguise to the untrained eye. I'm sure the cars are the same.
In any event, they are both fast and should be fun!
