I use cheap filters on my D90, they come out ok... it is hard to tell any difference compared to my friends $200 filters.

Excellent camera you've got there... a while back I test drove a D40, and decided to get the D3000... I'm looking to go FX and get a D700 soon...

Although a D40 and a D3000 is REALLY all you need.

But I like the aspect ratio of 35mm so DX doesn't quite cut it sometimes.

Good deal on the camera and nice pics! I've been trying to decide between the D3000 & D5000. I think I've pretty much decided on the D5000 due to the better sensor and having the flip down LCD might come in handy from time to time.

I've never used a DSLR before so it's going to be challenging at first but at least there are some photo classes in the area that I'm going to take.

The DX format has exactly the same aspect ratio as 35mm full-frame film. They are both 3:2.
