For anyone who went from Vista to 7, I've just made the switch and have a few questions.
Where is the start page that shows your programs and also where are the "Turn off Your PC" and "Restart" buttons located?
My old Windows Vista had MSN Messenger already installed.
Does Windows 7 have this? If yes, where is it, or must I download and install it?
Also what do you recommend for best screen resolution? I'm using a Viewsonic 27 inch LCD, and currently it seems "stretched" almost distored looking.
Finally, where is the Windows Update button? This is so different than Vista, is everything hidden?
Thanks

I foound the start button.
For some reason when I selected the recommended screen reolsution, the start button was off my monitor, and hidden to the left (out of sight)
Changing the resolution brings it within range, but then it stretches my fonts and distorts the display,
Looks like I have to play around with the adjustments.

Start here - all you need is either in a demo vid, or text.

As for yer LCD - you need to find out the native resolution for that panel and run that - anything else will look like crap. All fixed-pixel displays are like this. You can config icon, font sizes later. Explore the video adapter settings pages/tabs as well. And make sure yer monitor control menus are configured appropriately - play .....

The turn off restart and sleep buttons are located to the right hand side of the start menu, when you click the start button look on the bottom right and you will see a button that says shut down, there is an arrow to the right of that button if you click it you will see the restart and several other options. I am not sure about msn messenger. When you click your control panel to bring it up if you look in the upper right corner you will see View by: if you click category and change it to large icons it will look much more familiar. You can then click the programs and features button and that is the new add or remove programs center.
