Something I Have Noticed

I frequent a lot of forums and during the presidential campaign and just after the election I noticed there were a flood of "kool-aide" drinkers on forums praising our socialist leader etc., etc. Well now they seem to be in a vast minority. Anybody else notice this?

I would imagine the reason that they are in the vast minority is that you frequent forums that you like and tend to agree with---the demographics is very simple there.

I have noticed, for example, that F-150 owners tend to be very conservative people...a few of us here are in the "vast minority" as you put it.

Since you hang with people that you tend to agree with, they will indeed be in the "vast majority." It is called "demographics." Perhaps an "imbocil" (at least that is how it was spelled by somebody in another thread... ) (hmmm) would fail to notice this or grasp this idea, right? You like bing around people who agree with you---even you can agree on that, right?

If you feel there are not enough pro-government people around. Go to Democratic Underground... NO! just kidding.

There are more democrats in this country than any other political party... but there is a huge influx of conservatism and libertarianism especially after Bush's last 2 years. Also, you have to account for the fact that it is 'cool' to go against 'the crowd' or to be 'different'... many people are anti-obama but don't know the true definition and belief system of limited government along the lines of the founding fathers.

I also account for the fact of buyers remorse. Many people that were happy as a pig in mud when obama got elected. Many are silent now because he is just a continuation of the system. He is doing everything Bush did that progressives hated about him and now he is pissing off conservatives with his radical economic policy.

But like they always say... 4 years of Jimmy Carter gave us 8 years of a country that was vastly conservative when it came to government. I think the same will happen in 2012 IF a good runner that will actually be against big government, less spending, balanced budget, lower taxes, ect. Bush promised these things but didn't follow through. We gotta find one that will.

OP-The country is experiencing what i like to call a "hangover"....you know how fun things are when you're out one night, drunk and doing whatever sounds or feels good to you...then you wake up in the morning, your wallet's empty, you have a killer headache, and you REGRET everything you did....That is what the 'kool-aid' drinking fools are experiencing

I also feel a lot of people who voted for Obama were suffering from white middle class guilt complex. They didn't want to be seen as "racist" so they voted for him. I recall a post from another forum where a black person said "I didn't like Obama's politics, but my blackness wouldn't let me vote for anybody else."

While the kool aide drinkers are/were definitely in the vast minority on this site, It does appear to me that those #s have declined and seem to get smaller and smaller as Obama gets farther and farther into his term (anyone remember "momalle1" - what happened to that dude ). I don't think those members have necessarily left the forum, I just think they are not as vocal as they use to be, and for good reason. I think many of them didn't see this HUGE government power grab coming, and are now perhaps "second guessing" their choice.

I've talked to a fair amount of friends and family members who voted for Obama that said they would not vote for him again if he was up for re-election tomorrow. Granted we still have a couple more years to see if he turns anything around, but I doubt he will. Understand though, this is Michigan, and in Michigan everyone thinks they are a Democrat at first, until they start paying attention.

The socialist still has the youngsters (college) drinking koolaid unfortunately. These are the same knotheads that are bitching that they can't find jobs when they graduate from college.

Most of us called ourselves ABC men back then ......... Anybody But Carter.

This is the first link that came up when I googled presidential deficits.

Reagan was not a budget balancer in spite of his beliefs. He was the master of the well turned phrase, however.

I know Reagan was a big spender but it was 'mostly' spent on a proper function of government against an enemy that needed shutting down.
