HELP! Title Transfer Question.

I've got a really good question... as some might know I had a 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel I was trying to sell. I finally sold the truck last week to a person in NY. However, the new owner and I are having an issue with the title. It is a Florida title that has had 4 owners already (including me, as I was the fourth owner). So the truck will now have a 5th owner.

Here's the problem:

There is no more room on the title for us to sign on the original Florida title. Would we have to go through Florida, or do we have he need to retitle it under NY and have me sign the NY title as transfer of ownership?

Please help us.

I don't think anyone with an automatic transmission is going to help you out on this one.

You're not a dealer, so you can't "reassign" the Florida title. You must title it in your name (with a New York title), then you can do whatever you want with the title.

Thanks Zach.

Makes sense... I kind of figured that, but neither of us were sure... since we don't go out and buy vehicles from out of state that often.

My only other question would be... does the DMV assign like a temporary title until I get the real title so I can sign it over to the new owner immediatly? Or do I have to wait 6 weeks for the title to come in and then put my signature on it and give it to him?

The reason why is because he already paid for the truck, and he's kind of upset that he can't get it registered already. Which I don't blame him. Or is there a temporary registration to get around this?

DMV is the one to give you those answers, otherwise when you go to get it transferred and they tell you you can't do it like that and you tell 'em the guys on F-150online said you could, they'll tell you to have the guys at F-150 to register it then.

You bought that truck knowing that:

A) It was a Dudge
B) It's had 4 owners? That truck's been passed around like a cheap hooka.

Boy u stupid

How long have you owned it without paying the taxes/registering it?
