who knew?
There's a whig party?
i thought they went out when lincoln took office... didn't they die out over slavery? if i remember right, the Democrats were for slavery, and the Whigs were sort of for and against. They split, with the anti-slavery faction becoming the Republicans with Lincoln as their first candidate. There weren't enough whigs left to win anything so they joined the Democrats in the pro-slavery camp and that was the end of the whigs.
is there a historian in the house? do i have this right?
