Sorry guys looking back I should have clarified more on the 10 grand part. I don't want to and don't plan on spending 10 grand I was just kinda throwing a number out there. There's more to the financial logistics of it than just buying a third car with a new payment and insurance. I have a bike that I'm trying to sale and if the bike sales then I will get a car. I'm paying a payment on the bike and insurance right now so it's really no change there as long as it's a cheap car. I have a 97 Ford Ranger 2.3L 2wd, but I'm letting my parents use it because their Blazer took a dump, but it still only got around 20mpg because part of the drive is in the city with a lot of stop and go. Yes, fitting in the cars is also an issue because I am 6'2" 300lbs lol.

It might not be a bad idea to buy a commuter. I did that back in 2003 when I had a brand new 2003 Screw 4.6. I bought a new Hyundai Accent that got 40-45 mpg for $6700 plus $1000 for air conditioning. Insurance was minimal and I drove the crap out of that thing with no wear on tear on the F-150 (except trips towing the toys). The Hyundai paid for itself in reduced deprecation on the F-150 in two years. I don't kow about anywhere else, but mileage KILLS the value of used vehicles here. In the Hyundai, I had nothing to lose, and still had a 100K mile warranty and roadside assistance. The little thing was bulletproof, so none of that was needed.

On a side note, it scared the heck out of me when next to big rigs though!

Why,he already has one.

My 02 cavy paid for itself in 26 months. I paid 2700 for it and have driven the tires off it for the second time. Speaking of, that little shower going home yesterday was pretty interesting on my racing slicks.

2006 Suzuki Boulevard C50
Black
1,300 Miles
Leather Saddle Bags
Padded Passenger Back Rest
Kury Iso Grips / Kury Stiletto End Caps

The wifey doesn't like the bike. A couple friends got killed on theirs last year so she isn't too keen on them now. She wasn't to begin with, but definitely not now.

I think im saving money.
car 24-26 mpg (avg 25 mpg year round)
truck. 14-15 mpg empty on a good day, bad day or towing 10mpg. (average 11mpg cause its never that nice to me)

40 miles round trip. 350 mile fill up on car, 200 on truck. if i was patient, i'd figure out the costs of driving each to work only.

Last Sept I purchased a like new mint condition 1993 Camry V6 LE. It had 106K miles on it! It now has 116K miles & runs like a bear, & is reliable as all hell! I can get 28-30 MPG on the highway if I'm not doing 80 MPH! So far 10K miles not on my truck commuting to work & errands & stuff!.........

I drive around 50 miles round trip to work and back everyday and about 325 miles a week with my truck and it gets 14 mpg.

I traded in an '05 Hyundai Elantra that got atleast 32 mpg on the truck. My commute didnt change at all so Im still driving the truck as much as the car. Yeah, it sucks paying $70 a week for gas compared to $35 but its worth the trade off to me.

The insurance was more on the car than the truck even though I paid more for the truck used than I did for the car new.

My father is 6'5 and has an '05 Focus and loves it. I personally think his car feels like a cheap piece of crap, way more than the Hyundai did.

I just dont see the point in making payments on, registering and insuring two vehicles to save a little on gas. Not worth it at all.

Focus. I was given a Mercury Tracer (Focus) and have been driving it for nearly six months now. I pay about $ 40 a month for insurance on it and save in the neighborhood of $ 220 a month in fuel cost compared to driving my trucks full time. It is fun to drive.

my fiance's 02 focus svt is alright to get around in, but usually we opt for my ride...she gets 30 mpg but my truck usually pulls about 17-18...and its a much better ride/comfort...

A Tracer is an Escort, not a Focus.

Oh, right.
Anyway, I filled it up last Monday, cost $ 19.95, and I still have 1/3 of a tank after using it for 90% of my driving.

I bought a 98 blazer from my brother when he joined the Army and got deployed. It gets a little over 20mpg, but it has not exactly been the most reliable vehicle. However it does save me from putting miles on my new F150. I only use the F150 on the weekends and when we take the camper out..... It only cost me about $350 bucks a year for insurance so its not really much money out of pocket....
