They just put two red light cameras up last month here. Going to be 10-15 of them across the city by the end of the year. They will also catch you speeding as well.

The city says they are to reduce accidents. We'll see about that.

I bet that if someone looked into those stats they are higher since cameras have gone up. I could only speculate that the accidents from them will only get worse as well, but hey we want be getting t-boned.

The fact that they may reduce accidents does not really matter to the city. The main reason for adding them is to generate income. Reducing accidents is something they hide behind to get them installed.

I can't believe they are facing charges now. I heard on the news this morning on the way to work that people are suing the city to get there money back on those tickets received. They are suing for $300k!!!

Red light cameras are against the Constitution. IIRC someone said it was infringment on Amendment 4 for the search and seizure act because they are taking pictures and something like it was illegal because it might expose them or something.

Just like people argue that it is against the constitution to make use of cell phones and smoking inside of people's private vehicles be illegal.

There is an other part to this story about being "innocent until proven guilty", not the other way around too.
