Anyone else get this "Make Money with your Truck" offfer?
In the mail today was a postcard rm an outfit called Horizon Transport out of Wakaursa, IN. It's an offer to hire on full-time, part-time, seasonal to contract to move FEMA trailers out of Hope, AR to locations throughout the US and Canada. The say they have over 11,000 of these 30 ft trailers to be moved and not enough drivers. Almost anyone with a pick-up can hire on and earn extra cash.
Sounded good to me, my work as a contract magazine editor/graphic designer gives me plenty of down time and I like to drive cross country.
I logged on to their website and here are some of the details:
1)foremost for me is they only want 3/4 or 1-ton trucks - my F150 won't make the grade.
2) truck has to be a 2004 or newer
3) you must have a commercial license (whatever is required by your state)
4) you have to put up a $1,000 damage deposit - but you have an option to have 10% of each job deducted until you reach that mark, or just pay it up front.
5) There's a minimum dress code
6) they pay $1.00-$1.20 per loaded mile, you buy your fuel
7) must have a frame mounted hitch rated to 10,000 lbs.
8) you get paid 50% of each job up front, the balance when you turn in the delivery paperwork
I know for a fact that there are thousands of those trailers at the airport in Hope, AR - just a couple hours drive for me, so it looked promising but my truck doesn't qualify.
Anyway, just curious if anyone else got this? If you want to check it out, log on to www.horizontransport.com/hope.

It's amazing to drive by the airport there and see all of those trailors just sitting there. Looks like thousands of them. There also seems to be maintenance crews there working on them all of the time.
Some of them have been sold for cheap prices, but I haven't checked into buying one myself. Does anyone have the information on that? I wouldn't mind getting one if the price was right.

If you searched for Trailers instead of Trailors you'll be successful....
