Wow, just watched the DVR'd 2nd half of the race. That pothole crap sucked! Good to see McMurray finally win a big one, and the way Junior went from 10th to almost winning in a GWC reminded me of his old man. Heck of a finish!

Yeah I couldn't believe how much I had to FF through the DVR recording because of the pothole debacle. They do need to do something about the hump in that area, and get rid of the stupid wing for a traditional spoiler, which is in the works anyway. The wing ruins the racing IMO.

Nothing Ian, just calling it how I see it.

I know! What a debacle! It was almost as bad as when the Brickyard 400 had to have a caution thrown every 12 laps because the tires were blowing up. The track looks like crap and the bumps in the turns are horrible. It needs to be repaved ASAP.

Yeah I heard Bowyer (I think it was him) saying they don't need to repave the track because it would change the track. Hell the COT changed it more than a repave ever would!

The drivers are worried about another Talladega. Dega is so smooth and incredibly fast now and it doesn't have any character. It's just wide open all day long around the bottom. Daytona has the bumps and it's worn out and it can chew up tires like Atlanta and the old Darlington.

That will change with the new plates and when they switch back to the old spoilers. They need to repave the track or fix the stupid humps. Then Junior would win.

They will probably do that diamond groove treatment if they repave it, so it wears the tires out a little quicker than Dega does.

I agree Ian, Dega lost its character a little, but once the asphault ages a bit it should get some of its character back.

Or they they could repave normally and use the Goodyear Indy edition rubber-dust tires you mentioned.

And with the new plates Dega will be a wreck fest.

We know that's the only way Jr can win. (easy Harley)

It's coming back already just a bit. Pretty sure NASCAR has abandoned the diamond cutting after the Charlottle debacle a few years ago. Pretty sure Charlotte, Darlington, Vegas and I know for a fact Dega didn't diamond cut.
