30 mpg.....right. And my 4.2L is putting down 400Hp to the wheels and getting 40 mpg from an eBay chip and some new low resistant plastic tires.

Why is it so hard to believe when the diesel performance community can get just a little over 20 with a few mods and some good tunes out of a 9,000lbs brick of a truck. Maybe Ford finally took notice of what some of these tuners are doing.

The 302-horsepower, 3.7 F-150 4X2 is expected to have an EPA mileage rating of 16 mpg in city driving and 23 mpg on the highway (as we reported earlier); the 360-hp, 5.0 F-150 4X2 is expected to deliver 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway. Both engines can run on E85 fuel.

Mid teens city and low 20's highway for a 300+ hp, 4,500+ lb, DOT legal, government approved, full-time gasoline powered (non hybrid) mass produced truck is pretty impressive.

30+ mpg is fantasyland, and if it was possible, it would be unaffordable.

I get 300 miles per 25 gallons out of my truck, it's never changed since it was new.

Just because the epa says it gets X and X does not mean it will only ever get that ever.

My mustang was rated at 18/22 and I pulled 22/28 every tank for two years.
From a 3.8L manual.
My truck was getting constant 17.5 from 225/70/17 and no tuner at 65/70.
Now I can get 15/16 with 245's at 60 on the canned 93.

I would be willing to bet a short cab, short bed 5.0 could get in the 20/22 range on flat ground at 55, with low gears and the 6 speed auto.

I know if I could pull 17.5 in a stock 2WD s-cab 6 1/2 that a short/short with the 6 speed and low gears could get 20/22.

I say the V-6 could get 25/26 if you are light on the throttle.

But 30, not form a auto/gasser that weighs in at over 5K lbs.

30 mpg will probably be the EPA rating of the 2021 Ford F150, but not the 2011 Ford F150.
