1937 Ford Housecar

Sure seems as if that would be a lot of weight for the little flathead to push around.

First gen class c motorhome. Cool. I don't think back then they were too worried about doing 0-60 in 5 seconds like we are today, so a flathead would do just fine, and probably a lot better than a lot of the engines around at that time.

Had I done so, it would have been a hit! I drove my 54 Ford coupe, painted purple, 57 TBird 312, duals, lowered in the front.

So are you saying you weren't a hit in your purple Ford?

Not saying that exactly. Well, maybe so. I had it for 2 years already!

Blue- I think that is pretty dadgum neat, especially for back then. I don't know if they still have it or not, but the Harrah's museum in Reno had a Ford coupe that pulled a 5th wheel. From what I remember the tongue of the 5th wheel mounted in the "rumble seat" opening or the trunk opening. Pretty stream lined too. One thing I can't imagine though, they say it had an aluminum 60 HP V-8.(the "housecar) I had a '37 2D with that engine and it wouldn't make a good lawn mower engine. Wouldn't hardly start out in low gear going down hill, they were so absolutely gutless. I guess they were trying to get maximum mileage out of the gas back then since it cost a whole 12 cents a gallon. What were they thinking? Don't answer that!

I don't really know. You would think it would have to be geared lower with that small engine. I only know I had a lot of Fords back then but I didn't have that one very long. It was truly gutless. I had heard about 'em, but had never actually seen one before I bought that one. I have no problem seeing why they didn't go over well (that's an understatement). About like the 260 V-8 in the small Olds back in the 60's or '70's, also terribly gutless. I knew a guy who bought one used and he took it back because you couldn't tell much difference between P & D.

I've gotta say, that's pretty cool. Love the interior woodwork!
