Me personally... I only use the CB when some friends want to mess with it... other than that, I just mostly listen to local trucker gossip and stuff. Very interesting things happen on CB... but it's been that way for years and years.

That's why I am a HAM operator... much cleaner and much better for your kids to listen/get involved with. Trust me, you don't want your little ones listening to CB. I've heard people getting into fights on there to the point of where they actually meet up in real life and fight. Listened too it way too much over the years.

The other thing people like doing with CB is adding illegal amps and stuff. I don't recommend doing this.

Another good thing about HAM though, is that you can legally use amps and you can have a whole 'nother communication experience. Some repeaters for example, have autopatches where you can turn your radio into a makeshift telephone. Plus with ICOM's DSTAR IRLP system, you can clearly chat with people across the world just as if they were sitting next to you. It's truely amazing. Once you mess with it, you'll never want to touch a CB radio ever -- or you will think of it as a "kids" toy.

Agreed Manual, KOR 2329 My old CB number's and KA5AHV my old novice license from back in the 70's. I've been fooling around with CB's since 1975 when I was driving truck's. Just quit fooling with them when my tower and beam antenna was knocked down by a couple of hurricanes.
