Im proud to be working for them. Don't tell this whole profit thing to Toyota or GM fanboys though. They will just say "your time" is coming soon.

I don't really have much bad to say about Toyota because they have run a really good business in recent years. I believe their focus on quality really slingshot-ed them ahead in the game. I can remember hearing a US car manufacturers ad claiming that their car was just as good quality as Toyota and I was like, "At what point did we start having to defend ourselves against a Japanese car company?" but then I picked up a Consumer Reports and learned that it was true. They make good cars that last!

It must have been about that time that Ford realized the same thing because they started to re-think some things a few years ago and now when I pick up the Consumer Reports, the only US car manufacturer I see in the top five lists with the Japanese ones is Ford. Makes me proud.

I wouldn't quote Consumer Reports. They have for years been giving Toyota good marks, even though they had no input from consumers. They got bit by that and finally admitted that a couple of years ago.

Well I'll quote my own experience then. Apart from having a lot of Fords, my family has also had and still has a lot of Toyotas. They are solid vehicles that last and last. I like em. We can't expect them to never make a mistake like what this recall is for but at least they are doing the responsible thing. That's good business.

I agree in the past, they have been better, but this is by far not the first problem. There is been the problem with engine sludge, Tundra tailgates, Tundra and Tacoma frames, and others. But for whatever reason. people always seem to cut Toyota slack they would not do for any other manufacturer. I have been buying Fords since the 60's. I have yet to have a lemon, and only once have a vehicle leave me on the side of the road due to a problem. In that case a fuseable link which cut power to the computer on my 90 F150.

This is good to hear.

Rlevi, there was a commercial for the new Taurus and in it they said "The all new Taurus, as reliable as a Toyota." Those aren't the exact words, but it was a long those lines.
I mean I guess it could help Ford to say that since everyone thinks Toyota's are the best thing on the planet.

Sounds like they should just stick to making cars. I would buy a Ford truck before a Toyota anyway. 50 years is a pretty good track record man. that is a very good point. Toyota does not have that. Youve given me another reason to be a proud Ford owner.
