Tornado watch in phoenix
Last summer, we were under a tornado watch. The cell blew in and they upgraded it to a tornado warning. The local weather guy broke into "regularly scheduled programming" and said the wall cloud was right outside of town... duck and cover.
Then the sirens sounded.
Then the local weather guy was pre-empted by the "OH CRAP, IT HIT THE FAN" official government warning message.
Total Damage = $0
Me = Back porch, looking for a good show.

I stood out side once and watched a tornado carry the neighbors workshop over my yard and then it came apart still within sight. Damage to my property, was just a few trees. Tornado's really do some strange things.
Another time I was watching the evening news. It was showing footage from Oklahoma. there was a cow walking across a pasture, with a 2X4 sticking completely through it right below its spine. That was a very strange sight.
Easer Sunday 1978, I was stationed at Fort Sill Oklahoma. A Tornado Hit a brand new elementary school in my home town. Bricks were found up to ten miles away from the foundation. Three days before that the same storm system hit a National Guard Armory at Wichita Falls Texas, and scattered equipment and weapons for miles. Those Armories were built to very high specifications. Those storms are simply amazing as to what they can do.
Couple years ago a tornado hit a town bout 60 miles away well when the storm got to us it wasn't tornadic anymore just real windy. It ripped through a bank in the town 60 miles away and papers from there bank floated down on our airport

I'm not downgrading the significance of a tornado, they are extremely violent. The primate in me just wants to actually see one. Hopefully out in a wheat field somewhere, far from my house.
Curiosity beats out intelligence almost every time. Just ask the oysters...
Yes, they are amazing. I've lived in the Texas panhandle my entire life. I've been under countless tornado warnings. The best show I've seen was a large funnel just outside of town. All it did was kick up some dust. Wall clouds... eh, seen a million of 'em.

Hang tight, Go to the most inner part of your house for the most safety. Basement if you have it. Bathtubs can be good also. It will sound like a freight train really close up, if a tornado comes to you.
Haha I live in Gilbert and thats where the tornado watch is! lol they say it has alot of tornadic activity! My pretty truck was all clean and washed and then it rained and then blew some damn dust on it! and oh yeah why not slam some torn off brances from tress on it, didnt really seem to scratch it but thats hard to see if it because of the rain!
Not really...my house (we rent from my ladies dad) is an old farm house. Built in the 30's or something...i dunno. Its been renovated, but its old and prob needs to be torn down. But, its cheap rent, which is nice. But all of our glass is single pane, so thats why it was shaking.
