Windows 7 and 2000 office premium

I recently bought a new computer. For some reason it doesn't like the Microsoft office 2000 premium program. So, here is the question I ask to you computer gurus out there. Would Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 be a good choice? It's $83.00 but I'm not sure if it's an upgrade or full version. I don't want to spend $ 400.00 for a full version mainly because I wouldn't use or have the knowledge to even venture into the available resources it has. Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated, thanks.

Yeah. Part of the problem is that Suite is 5 generations behind.

You could attempt to run it in WinXP (or even Win2000) compatabiltiy mode - find out how using Windows 7 Help.

Another, *free* option - give Google Office or Open Office a try (or both). If they provide you with whatever basic functionality you need, great.

Lastly - the Student version is fine ( not sure of the pricing of u/g versus full) - if you are not an advanced user. Does your school/bookstore offer any discounts?

Good luck

Damn and I thought I had an old version. Haven't used that computer in a few years and it has 03 on it. Should dust it off, I liked 03.

Go with Open Office. It is free and does everything you need. I am running it on Win 7 and it works great.

All Office 2000 modules except Outlook are compatible with Windows 7.

As stated, Open Office is a fine and free option.

Don't buy any current MicroSoft Office program as they are releasing Office '10 in April

You can also get the Beta version of Office 2010. Its good for now, until they make you pay for it. Then decide if you want to buy it or change to Open Office.
