My wife and I bought our first home 30 years ago this month.
2 bedrm, 1 bth, 960 sq ft. for $30,000
1st Mortgage was $181, 2nd Mortgage was $43
$224 PITI monthly and I couldn't sleep nights worrying about that big payment.

 

Yep -- I'm anxiously awaiting the day when people laugh at my mortgage payment and tell me their car payment is higher......

We got it!! Just a little price to hash out, so far $7,000 off list, plus closing and a $3,000 appliance credit!

 

Congrats! It's an awesome feeling to own your own home. We bought our first house 5 years ago and it's so nice to have the freedom to do what we want with the place and no one to answer to but ourselves! Have fun!

 

it seems you never own your house... you always have taxes on it even if you pay it off...
