vertical shop compressor

whats everyone using (brand name) for the above? I've been looking at Lowes, Homedepot, Sears, Tractor supply and about settled on the 60 gal. 3.2 HP verions. I think all these 2 cylinder jobs 240v are made by one company. Was looking for a 30 gal. but cant find one with more than 1.6 HP i think it was. I dont do much, (just hobby, non commercial) but this 12 gallon older Sears I have wont keep up with any air tool. Prob. would like 6-10 cfm or so. Any suggestions would be appreciated...(except Ingersall-Rand, and most of Sears seems to be the diaphram oil-less type which I dont want) thanks.....................

Check your local harbor freight. I just got a 3hp 21gal oiled compressor from them for $125 and they have 60gal sizes (120 and 240). After comparison shopping them, I think you are right that they are all pretty much made by the same mfg. Harbor Freight pretty much killed everyone price-wise.

Well since it is basically the same as the "name" brands, I don't wonder too much. I've had good luck with everything I've bought from harbor freight. My pressure washer was the same deal, exact same components as some name brands I looked at but under a "generic" brand name. The $125 was on special so you just need to keep an eye on their circular ads but even the regular prices are lower.

What are you referring to with the 18 wheeler? Does harbor freight set up a mobile store or something?

Uless I'm thinking of some other company....but im 99% sure its harbor frieght. Yes,,they park outside a community building or whatever, and bring stuff inside. actually, i believe you pick out one of whats on display, then they get it from the trailer for you. Thats where I got my 20k psi vertical shop press. There was a part missing and I got it for half price! ........
