Deferring a ticket ?

hey guys,

so tonight i got a ticket for failing to come to a complete stop at a red light before turning right.

i had a quick question, i had a ticket deferred 3 years ago and havent had anything since then

but i believe the law in washington state is you can only defer a ticket once every 7 years.

so basically im going to get it on my record correct? they probably wont defer it?

im going to mail it in saying i want a mitigation hearing anyway and hopefully reduce the fine

thanks guys

1. If you hold a CDL, you won't be able to do this.
2. You will be assessed a court fee of greater than $150.
3. You can only do it once in 7 years.
4. You can defer one moving violation and one non-moving violation
5. Catcher: Not all Courts allow you to defer your ticket.

Don't have the 7 year stipulation in Texas. I have deferred two over the last few years.

It's called deferred adjudication. You chose that rather than plead guilty or not guilty. You pay the same amount as if you pled guilty, but if you do not get another ticket in 6 months, it does not go on your record.

I don't think we have anything like that in Ohio. They get you doing something wrong, they get your money and you get the points.

We don't have that in TN. You can either pay the ticket(say $70) and it goes on your record or you can pay(say $200) for a 4hr or 8hr driving class and the ticket doesn't go on your record. But you can only take one 4hr and one 8hr in a 12 month period, then the points go on no matter what.

So they get their money, they spend less in the process, you save points and everybody is happy.

Correct. If you do get another ticket during the 6 months, they both go on your record.
