Forgive my ignorance (not sure if I'm in the 20% of the most ignorant) but I'm having some trouble trying to figure out how someone was able to count the ignorant people in this country and then how they were able to determine which ones were the most ignorant. Is there anyone here that can explain this?

I've got to admit it's a little embarassing to ask these questions. I saw someone make the assertion that a certain TV talkers "rhetoric" was only good enough to draw the most ignorant 20% of the country. That would be one fifth of the population? So this TV talker is only good enough to draw 60,000,000 ignorant people? Am I missing something here?

Is it possible that the person making assertions somehow has the knowledge to know how many ignorant people there is in the country and that the 20% is 20% of just the ignorant people? That doesn't sound right based on the wording that this person making this assertion used:

It would be easier to understand if I knew exactly who these ignorant people are. Is it correct to assume that this TV talker, who's show highlights topics and facts important to the people (us) who want to retain their freedom, could draw the most ignorant 20% of the country, but the mainstream media, who were long ago tasked with being the watchdog for the people, doesn't cover topics that are very important to keeing our country from becoming more ignorant?

I don't know. Maybe I am in that 20%, but I just can't fugure out what this person who's making these assertions is trying to convey with their statement. This person seems to believe that they are quite wise. Much wiser than I, and has seen much more than I have. I wish this person would answer my questions (I've asked repeatedly), but I must be so ignorant that this person can't waste their time showing me how they became so wise.

Can any one else help me?

I think the very wise individual must have meant that the only people who watch the TV talker are within the most ignorant 20%.

So the talker may only have 5,000 viewers, but all 5,000 are within the most ignorant 20%.

Don't you love getting talked down to and being insulted by very wise individuals?

That explains it.....only a "Real" person would make such an ignorant statement. "Real" folks feed off others and are a burden on society.

 

I didn't Realize what as going on myself. But I figured if we were referring to 20% if idiots, it would have to be people that actually believe the Jerry Springer circus.

Well, I guess. I used to listen to Springer on Air America radio. He used to be one one of the liberal talkers. He's real. Real "progressive".

It may be because I'm just ignorant, but I got the impression that the moderator closed the thread because the wise individuals were using the highly intellectual tactic of name calling.

Well, being that you have no idea, you might want to ask a wise individual if you are in that 20%.

You might want to inquire if you might be in that 20%. A real person is much wiser, and has seen more than you. It's pretty ignorant of you to make such a statement.

With a statement like that, it seems like you might be in that 20% too. We're waiting with bated breath to find out how the wise individual was able to calculate just who is in that percentile of the ignorant of the country.
