The same reason why "colored" people MUST be called African Americans. My wife is a 1/4 polish, and I don't call her a Polish American. One of my real good friends is 1/2 German, but guess what, he is an American, not a German American! If your born here, your an American! End of story...
Really?? It's being all kinds of hyped up. Supposedly it might actually live up to the hype too. The only "bad" thing I've heard about it is that it's full of anti-imperialist, anti-corporate sentiments.
I'm pretty excited to see it, hopefully I'll be able to catch it in IMAX 3D over the weekend.
Most serious protests aren't about pushing their values on to anyone else, but rather equal rights. Yes, there are stupid groups like this one, having stupid protests, like this one. If you look though the comments on their page, most people are saying how stupid it is. Even supporters of their cause think it's dumb and demeans their real fight for equality.
Totally agreed. As long as what you want to do doesn't infringe on what I want to do, we're all good. I don't even care about the marriage thing, let them pay taxes as a "couple", how does that affect me?

We're not going after every movie. But Avatar is perhaps the most-hyped movie of the year and it could be seen by many people around the world. A film like this that gets lots of media coverage and hype should be more socially responsible and respectful and honest about human sexuality and nature. The films appears to totally ignore the facts that there are millions of gay, bi-sexual, transgender peoples all across the world and on top of that, it has its lead character having a heterosexual relationship with a being from another world. ENOUGH! If James Cameron really wanted to make a significant and daring film that was truthful Jake would be having an alternative relationship.

Yeah, incredibly stupid thing to do. I'm sure plenty of gay movies came out this year, just nobody really cares, or watches them.

I work with quite a few lesbian/bi women and there are many that just flat out hate you because you are straight. I could really care less about their sexual orientation but they apparently seem to think that everyone else does.
