Like some one else mentioned Barbacoa (cows head cooked in the ground), that stuff is great for breakfast with some eggs sunnyside up and a couple slices of avacoda and fresh tortillas. It's also very good by itself in a corn tortilla with cilantro and onions. Love me some Chicharon (boiled pig skin) tacos and Langua (cow tounge) Tacos. Escargot is some really good stuff as well.

Thing is, is this really strange food? I dont find opossum, squirrel, rabbit, frogs legs, gator tail, calamari, turtle or most of the other things listed here strange. Hell I've tried some and would love to try the rest I havnt.

I tell you what I find strange, is the stuff on that Andrew Zimmerman show, Bizzare Foods, I believe it is. Seen that guy eat things that turn my stomach just watching it.

ha pig skins are as common as potatoe chips here, can't say i know what to think about the cows head. we eat the cheeks and throats out of grouper that we catch in the gulf a lot. yeah most of the things so far are stuff that people eat around here but to some people that aren't from around here even these things are just bizzare. l

You are grossly misnamed! Nothing average there.

I'm not a fan, but up here in MN alot of the older scandinavians eat lutefisk. Picture cod cured in lye, then boiled. The finished product looks like semi-clear jello.

I've seen it in stores. I wouldn't touch it, much less eat it.

That's more my speed. I'm a fan of sushi, though I stick mostly to tuna, salmon, eel and things that have been fried. Flying fish roe (fish eggs) is my favorite roe, and I know what you mean by an acquired taste. I haven't quite acquired a taste for salmon roe yet.

Down in the Bahamas we had Conch fresh from the shell. Sometimes it was grilled, other times chopped up into almost a salsa-like salad. Yum.

I've had deer, rabbit and squirrel (though I had no idea so many other people have eaten it) as well.

ha i guess cow intestine is somewhat like c-hitlins. yeah like someone else said about the pig's knuckles just floating around a jar, no way. i've seen too much stuff in our old science lab at my old high school that looks just like them.
