The only one I ever had that I just hated was a colorado2. It worked, but the software just didn't fit me. And it just seemed a little much to fool with. I guess I just didn't like it.

 

I put a 500gb 16mb cache Seagate in every computer I build. I have NEVER had one fail! "knock on wood" Now my computer, I have that hdd as a slave drive, and I use a WD 10k rpm drive for my master. It runs really hot, but hasn't blown up yet...

if they keep failing in the timespan there is something def wrong with your setup, such as maybe they dont have proper cooling, just run some benchmarks and see.

I also use them for externals. I have a 1tb in a Rosewill enclosure. It has an 80mm fan in it...

Western Digital blacks 640 gig + so it's a double disk and dual processor... 5 year warranty.

You can get much better then that running in raid 0 besides rapters or SSD's. It's what I run in my i7 rig and it's amazing.

Seagate FTW i have a 250GB which has gone through 5 years of use 3 computers and multiple OS installs and still has no errors and is as quite as can be

i am a currently running a 500GB Seagate as my main drive 2 years old been through two computers and multiple OS installs still runs fast and quite as can be
and i am also a gamer which is hard on HD's

WD is ok only if you go for the Black Editions i have two one external given to me then i have a 1TB one that was only 54bucks so i said what the heck so we will see how long they last cause mom had a regular WD crap out on her in two years

 

I've ran wd's for 10 plus years and to this day I have had yet one fail..even some of the old 10 year ones I boot up every now and then.

Every brand of hard drive is going to have failures. I don't trust any of them and backup anything of importance to at least one other hard drive or flash drive.

Had a client that bought 15 new computers. They all had WD drives in them. After about 1.5 years 8 of the 15 hard drives failed within a month of each other.

No mechanical device is immune to failure. Some just have higher failure rates than others.

 

All I use is the SATA Seagate drives. The one I just put in my new puter I built the first of this year is a SATA Seagate 500 gig. Hadn't had a problem with it. My other computer I built about 3 years ago has a SATA Seagate 320 gig in it with no problems.
