My Favorite Christmas Song

The thread about which Christmas song you hated the most made me think a little. I hate so many, not sure I could pick one I hate the most. I do know which is my favorite though.

For me, that's an easy one -- "I'll Be Home For Christmas" by Bing Crosby.

My dad was in "The Battle of the Bulge" in WWII, and he always told the story about being huddled in his foxhole freezing his backside off and hearing this song being played on the radio. He said it was the most lonesome he had ever been, and he truly did doubt at that time if he would ever get home for a Christmas again. I can never hear that song without thinking of my dad and what he must have felt like at that time.

And now, as a displaced Minnesotan living in Texas, the line about "Please have snow, and mistletoe....." can bring a tear to my eye as I stare out at the brown grass of Houston in December -- no matter how long I live here, it just ain't Christmas without snow!

Merry Christmas From The Family was a Montgomery Gentry song originally or atleast I thought so.
Maybe their version is a cover?

He is well known and popular around Texas. He and Lyle Lovett were roommates in college at Texas A&M. The stories about them get pretty wild.
