Missouri DMV

So I get my Vehicle Registration Renewal Notice in the mail. It says that I am due for inspection, but on the bottom it says

"Effective January 1, 2010, motor vehicles are exempt from the safety inspection requirements for the first five years following the model year of the manufacture".

My plates expire at the end of January. My truck is an 06. So in 2010, it will be 4 years old, so no need for an inspection until next time!

I would double check your logic. I would think this only applies to 2010 models and higher.

^^^ yup! I called the DMV today. They said as long as I wait until January to renew, I won't need to inspect my truck until 2012.

MO state safety inspections only cost $12 and take about 15 minutes. They really only check for major issues. I like them - if they find something bad I want to know about it and get it fixed.
