thought our small community here would enjoy this story. i have know the pilot referenced in the story for a number of years. while i have always thought of him as a decent guy i never realized what a special individual he is. he is the chief pilot for williams-sonoma. the article pretty much speaks for itself. what i find interesting is the lack of media attention. i live in nj not to far from the VA home. if not for the article being emailed to me i would never have known this went on. to bad mainstream media did not do more to hi lght it.

Thanks for sharing. Good to see these stories. There is a lot of that kind of thing going on and companies never get credit for it. The company I used to work for would get a list of the bike needs from the city Big Brothers/Big Sisters and purchase and assemble over a hundred bikes each Christmas. The thinking of our company president was that every kid needs a bike. It was a smaller company and cost between $5000 and $7000 each year, plus employee's time to assemble them. It made the employees feel good about the company. Walmart cut us a special price every year, which I thought was nice of them.
