Suppose you could re-write any traffic laws and the fines that go with them, what would you change?

For me, if you're caught driving with your high-beams and you don't lower them when approaching an oncoming vehicle, or even when you tailgate someone with your high beams on, that would start with a first offence of $500.
2nd offence would be $1,000 and 3rd time would be a 30 day license suspension.

I'd also raise the stakes slightly for failing to signal.
Some people have no idea how aggravating their lack of courtesy to other drives is.

It's not that hard but so many people fail to realize that by letting your intentions be known to other drivers, everything goes so much more smoothly.

I was following this dumb biatch yesterday, her high beams were on during the day time while she kept weaving in and out of traffic, no signals ever, the whole time yapping on her cell phone.
Someone like that deserves to be pulled over and have their driver's license ripped in half right there on the spot.

Slow poke drivers putting along in the fast lane! Not that I'm a speed daemon, but I hate when someone won't move out of the way for people to pass.This is especially annoying since about 80% of my commute to work is on two lane roads. I really flip out when someone is driving the same speed (usually slow) as the car next to them on a two lane road and there is no way to get around them. When that occurs, I'm wishing my car had a rocket launching option.

 

Using your turn signals is high on my list too. The only reason for not using them is laziness. I would like to see the fine raised to $500 and enforced. The police here are only interested in handing out speeding tickets.

Tailgaters are number one on my list. I have had two cars written off from rear end collisions. Suffered whiplash both times. There is no reason to follow that close. Calgary drivers are famous for it. Snow covered roads and the jack*ss behind you is so close you can't even see his headlights. How does he expect to stop? I would like to see tailgaters pulled out of their car and shot on the side of the road for the first offence.

People that can't walk and chew gum but figure they can drive and talk or text on their cellphone. You know the ones, they are all over the road and driving 15 mph below the speed limit while they are doing it. Again I would like to see this enforced. It is not illeagal to do this here yet but I do think that these people deserve a driving with undo care and attention ticket as they are putting everyone around them at risk. $500 dollar fine here would be nice too.

 

People with a cell phone plastered to their head. I HATE that. Some people can drive and talk on a cell but most can't.

Tailgaters are also very high and people that think the 5 second rule is actually 10 seconds and follow it zones that are below 60mph. My wife is one of those types and I give her crap any time she's driving. I have to explain it to her that this causes wrecks because you **** people off around you and make them zig and zag in traffic.

 

People who text and drive is my biggest one. Scares the living hell out of me when I see someone in the lane next to me doing it.

Left lane campers is another big one, along with people who insist on driving in the middle lane on a 6-lane highway. It's so bad on one stretch of I-70 that I can sometimes stay in the far right lane and never have to change lanes even though im going faster than most the cars.

Lastly, people who stay really close to the median on a 2-lane road. Scares me when coming at me, and makes it really hard for me to see if there are any cars coming when I need to pass.

 

People who spit their chew out the window at 70 mph!

 

If your from the state of Kansas your not allowed to get a drivers license.

 

People that throw cans at my windshield at 5:30pm yesterday on Missouri Avenue in Las Cruces, NM really grind my gears.

 

I have my toy dart gun locked and loaded but have not fired a shot yet. Why you may ask.... well i was going on some advise i got here that said it would pizz some folks off if i shoot there auto with my suction cup darts. Well i have had an awakening and after today all bets are off. It's shock and awe time moving forward...

 

I get really mad when im behind someone who is driving slow and they have stupid bumper stickers that I have to look at like HOPE and CHANGE.

 

People that drive in the fast lane at 10 mph under the speed limit and refuse to pull over should get a ticket. We got "slower traffic keep right" signs all over the place down here but some a-holes don't want to do it.

I would also make it mandatory that everyone over 65 retake the driving test/get hearing/eyesight tested every few years.
