little help with a lincoln LS

Hey guys hope you can give me a hand. I drove 100 miles to pick up my dad with his lincoln LS on the side of the road. The car will start and idle for about 10 seconds then shut off. I can't pull codes and the car isn't displaying any engine lights. Any clues?

I'm not sure what is in the LS, but if it does an Idle Air Control on it, you might need a new one, or clean it.

If it's a V8 model, that engine is infamous for developing leaking valve covers that eventually saturate the COP's with oil, leaving you with all kinds of performance issues.....

I'm not sure what it is. I hear what sounds like the fuel pump is pressurizing. But I couldn't get the hose off the fuel rail to see if it was actually pressurizing. Dad had it towed to the small town dealership. It was 130 miles away and nobody I knew that had a trailer was home or had one to rent.

Did you hit a big bump? Sounds like the fuel inertia switch was tripped. It's easy to check and rule out.

I was thinking the same thing but the manual said nothing about where the switch was located. I pulled off the passenger side kick panels and looked all over the trunk with no success. It was weird cause the car would start and run for a few seconds then just shut off. It wasn't like it was starved for fuel,it was like the key was turned off.

it's an 04. The dealership called and said that the air filer was clogged with leaves and that some got ground up and got past the filter. Got me how but said it was all up in the manifold. Guess mom will be raking the yard when they get home.
