the mayan calendar doesnt predict that the world will end. it predicts that a world period would end, and a new one will begin. we discussed this in one of my classes today.

Has anyone else ever just thought the Mayans got killed off and just happened to be working on the calendar at the same time?

lol...This is the funniest thing ever. The guy that made the Myan calander was considered a nut case by the rest of his people. He spent all his time working on the calander and then died, had he lived a day or two longer every one would think the world was going to end on some other date. It's not a prediction, it's just that the guy died and that was as far as he made it on the calander. Theres also other therioes about a massaive planet passing by us and forcing us off our axes and casing all kind of hell.

Have a look, some really off the wall stuff here. http://www.december212012.com/ Some people will believe anything.

You're thinking about Nostradamus.

The Mayans have predicted many dates after 2012, it's just not widely publicized. MmmBuckles is right, and I've heard the same thing. I'm sure ton of weird things will happen that day (my luck I'll be at work on the ambulance) but it won't be the end of the world. Either way, it's going to be a crazy day that day.

I always thought it was the end of the world as we know it? As in a major "change" (I use that word very lightly haha) would occur. I've heard the theory that modern technology will end and we'll be back to the Ice age, and the axis will flip, yada yada yada. I think it's going to be another y2k thing again. Idk if I believe any of it but it deffinately makes for interesting reading and conversation. Hell I'll be 21 by then soo it'll be good.

The world already ended January 20th 2009 at noon. It is just taking 3 years for everything to die off.
