That is so wierd how stuff like that happens. It sucks that people do take meds and shots to stay healthy and then something thats supposed to make you feel better ends up messing you up worse that the original illness you were trying to prevent.

I believe it... I mean they take my money and distribute it to drug dealers to buy 22's to put on their whip, so them being able to control whter you get one or not is believable

So it is not just me.

My mom is big on getting the flu shoot every year and in my late twenties she talked me into it. For 3 years in a row I got my yearly shot and every year I ended up with the flu. I rarely get the flu and in the last 14 years since I stopped getting the flu shots I have had the flu once. I don't think they are worth it.

From what I learn in my biology class, the flu shot they give you every year is just one of the several strains that are out. You might get lucky and be vaccinated for the one that affecting you area or not. It's basically like numbers out of a hat when choosing which one they want to send out a vaccine for. Some people with weak immune systems feel the effects of he virus from the vaccine, but it might not be as bad as the full healthy virus.

Saw that story also and it is indeed very sad. I work in a health care environment and I have taken the flu shot for the past 7 years with no issues. Knock on wood I haven't had the flu ever since I started getting vaccinated. This year it was actually mandatory at my company and there were many people in an uproar about it. I haven't heard anything about the swine flu vaccination being provided at my company, but I think I would take it if available. I'm around sick people constantly, so if I can prevent myself from getting sick (and prevent getting people sick with weakened immune systems) I'm all for it.

My spouse is a Registered Nurse and all the nurses and doctors at the hospital where she works said the odds of that happening are VERY rare.

But this is not your typical 24 hr flu were are talking about. It kills healthy people old and young.

I will be getting my shot this week and so will my family. I have had good luck with flu shots and will continue to get them.

Here's my 2 cents. Sure, medication reacts differently to different people. Sure, you can die during routine surgery. I could die on my way home from work. But why take uneccessary risks? If I break my leg and have to go under the knife then I will roll the dice, but why take a vaccination for a different strain of flu when next year there will be a different strain. That's what the flu virus does. It mutates every year. Do I go get a cold vaccine every year? No. This seems like a huge money grabbing event initiated by health care.
