10 Reasons NOT to EVER own a Chevy Silverado

Ok - this is comical now, since I am done stressing out.

As most of you know, my 2002 Silverado 1500 was T-Boned October 14, 2007. It was 'totaled' by my insurance company immediately. I purchased my 2007 F150 FX4 October 24, 2007 and took the personalized plates, from the Chevy, and had them transferred to my NEW Ford.

This damn Chevy is now HAUNTING ME!

1. Chevy wrecked 10/14/2007

2. My insurance totaled the truck on 10/22/07

3. Bought new truck (Ford) on 10/24/07

4. Dealership fibbed on purchase date and back-dated it to show I purchased it July 2007

5. Dealership then did the personalized plate transfer and registration, dated 11/13/07. Somehow my renewal date is 10/24/07 though. Hmmmmm

6. Totaled report for Chevy was processed (by the state) on 12/3/07, from insurance company. When the lovely state of WA processed this report, they did NOT look at the VIN number, they looked at the PLATE #!!! Lazy a$$ people. Upon doing this, they "totaled" the WRONG TRUCK!

7. 2007 Registration now shows that my new truck was totaled and rebuilt on 12/3/09.

8. Title for 2007 Ford shows totaled / rebuilt

9. My insurance now has to send original totaled report for the Chevy AND a statement to FIX the registration for the 2007 Ford.

10. Once registration is "fixed" (I have to pay for another copy), I will have to pay to fix the title to my new truck, which shows "totaled" also now. Title will not be fixed until registration is. Then it will show that my truck has had ONE owner but it was retitled 2 years after I bought it. THIS SUCKS!

Yes, I just realized this when I renewed my plates yesterday. I saw "12/3/07 - Rebuilt" on the bottom of the registration in the "Remarks" field and started making phone calls and found all this out this morning! I am kicking myself in the a$$ for not noticing this before, on the registration.

Lesson learned here - read all paperwork and make sure the licensing bureau doesn't mess your paperwork up. I know it all has to do with the personalized plates that I kept from the Chevy, but geez..... what a bunch of morons!

Oh ya, once this is all fixed, my plans are:

1. Go chew the dealership hind end (general manager) and make them pay me back the taxes I paid for the 3 months that I never owned the truck, all the fees I am paying to get new title and registration, my time away from work and mileage!

2. Get NEW personalized plates to rid myself of all traces of that damn Chevy!

*** Go ahead, laugh - cause I am ***

This is Chevy's fault, how?

Sounds to me like the insurance company and the DOT screwed things up... (And ever who was at fault in the accident that totaled the Silverado in the first place.) Hell, the new Ford dealership played a bigger part in the screw up than the poor dead Chevy did.

depending on your mileage right now, I'd be going to Ford and getting the date fixed for when you bought the truck. If you bought it new and are still within warranty mileage, they also owe you a few months of warranty. Your warranty will be based on the vehicle going into service in July instead of October -- the actual purchase date.
