The article said that it was an unarmed launcher, no projectiles. Basically, he was sweating over a spent launcher that was about as dangerous as a .22 casing with no lead. I would have kept it as a souvenir.

I would have kept it too. I would like to see the face of the next jerk that cut me off as I swing around a rocket laucher and hang it out the window. I am guessing it would look something like this .

Well you'd be right that I didn't read the news article as I heard the interview with the guy on the radio. I looked for a linky for some kinda backup seeing as how folks would find this hard to believe. He said the launcher was active and capable of being fired at an airplane. His dad who was in the military for 25 years said it was active and capable of shooting down a plane. I assume that they knew what they were talking about...or maybe they did and the media has sugar coated this. But the article is nothing like the interview on the radio. And if it was just a launcher, why would EOD come to pick it up in a bomb proof truck? If it was just a launcher, the responding officer could have thrown it in the back of her car and drove off. Either way, I'm sure nobody will ever hear the end of this.

FWIW, he did call the closest military installation which was Bullis and they would not respond. The Comal County Sheriffs office said they would call him back- they never did. The folks at Ft Sam Houston are the people that got Bullis to respond....the next day. It took the responding military officer 4 hours to finally get EOD out there to pick it up. All per radio interview.
