Cool My Truck...RIP

I put this in my gallery a few months back but never posted what happened here, don't visit as often these days...bought a new house in April, the day I signed the papers and was taking a couple friends to see it some dirtbag ran a stop sign (I had no stop sign, clear route of stops signs for about a mile) and I TBONED him...he was driving a F150 Supercab. Spun him around onto a lawn, then he took off. Others chased him but couldn't keep up but got his license number, cops swarmed the area to no luck. I had plenty of witnesses saying he was at fault and the police could tell by the markings - plus the fact that he ran.

He never slowed down for the intersection, people estimated at least 45 in a 25, I saw him blowing it, hit the brakes and steered left, otherwise things would have been worse, no one in my truck got hurt (the best thing) and the airbag never deployed. Body shop estimated $14K+ to fix (once they got into it it could be more), and honestly, I loved my truck but looking at the front end, I didn't want it back. Dirtbag had stolen license plates from somewhere else in the state on the truck, cops said they were off an 78 F150, I knew the body style was 97-03. So my insurance paid the bank and me off.

Insurance also rented me a 2009 for a week to help the move and loved it. Just waiting until after the New Year to buy a new truck. Hate not having an F150 but no payment sure is nice ; ). What else can I say but FORD TOUGH, no one hurt in either truck, and his was caved in. Pictures don't show it all...for instance my door wouldn't open, had to pry...

Man, I hate when it goes that way. I bet that he knew if he stayed around that he was going to do some time, since that plates was stolen. The truck was too, I would guess. Glad to hear that you and everyone else is OK. Is the frame bent on the truck? I don't see $14 grand to fix it. But, I might be wrong. Hope you get a NEW F150 out of it though.

I tried to buy it back from the insurance company but they said due to the damage to the front of the frame they couldn't let me have it with a salvaged title...didn't make sense to me but...picture didn't show everything, oil everywhere, not sure if from the tranny cooler or oil pan...door was even bent...I didn't think $14K at first but afterwards, yea, the front end needed to be cut away and rebuilt, bent pretty bad...

I'll be getting a new one after the New Year, driving my 96 Accord at 26 mpg and paid for, enjoying the savings for a while but the fever hit a couple times already, just want to save a few more $$$ so I don't have a huge payment later...plus I really want my hot tub first...; ) but guaranteed, I'll be back in an F150 soon...friends were pushing me on teh Dodge's a couple months ago, they had some killer deals. Just coulldn't do it and told them they weren't friends, LOL...sorry Ford F150 loyal...

glad to here everyone was ok. it sucks that from the looks of the pic the damage wasnt 14K but if the whole front end was to be replaced...ouch. better off in a new truck than a fixed on incase something like that ever happened again.
