Homeland Security and Sheriff Joe

It seems that Homeland Security doesn't like Sheriff Joe arresting illegal aliens.

Not that I totally disagree with you, but I tend to believe that it is more about the current administration fearing the loss of potential voters in the future. Don't get me wrong, I also believe that the Republicans are afraid to broach this issue due to offending a certain block if voters. We are going to continually face issues concerning illegal immigration because each party is too afraid to do what is right.

I am continually frustrated by groups such as LULAC fighting for illegals having the right to enter the United States. One of their so called arguments is that certain parts of the US belonged to Mexico at one time or another in history. My thought process and logic always lead me to ask, "Would Mexico be any better off if it was to have the said land back in their possession, and would the people of Mexico be any better off?" One can reach no other conclusion than to conclude "NO". The government of Mexico would continue to oppress its people, and whatever profit the country would receive from having an enlarged country would not go to the aid of its peoples.

haha everyone out here hates Sheriff Joe. I absolutely love what he's doing. He's enforcing the laws of this country, and people say hes profiling. Well of course 99.99% of illegal immigrants in maricopa county are going to be mexican...were 3 hours from the damn border! People are idiots sometimes...

Joe is the man! Love that guy. I think it was pretty much said earlier but, people are just afraid to stand up and say anything in fear of the political correction police. When you're on a mission to fight illegal immigration in a state next to the Mexico border, of course you're going to single out mexicans! They're the ones that make up 99% of the problem there. He's doing his job and isn't afraid to say what he believes in, which is the law by the way. I don't think some states realize just how big of an issue it is in the south western states and they may think he's overreacting.

Just attended a spanish course put on by a company from the Phoenix area here at my sheriff's office. The guy teaching lives out there and he says that there are ALOT of people that support what he is doing, but due to their position in gov't can't or won't come out and publicly support him. Funny how they quietly support him, but have no spine to say it publicaly.

IMO, Sheriff Joe is a self-riteous, arrogant ***. I can't stand the man. If I still lived in Maricopa County when he's up for re-election I would vote for him tho. He's one of the few people who isn't afraid to call a spade a spade and actually do something. Funny thing is the head of Homeland Security is the former governor of AZ. Racial profiling...hmmmm....being 3 hours from the Mexican border would lead one to believe the majority of illegal immigrants coming into the US there to take advantage of the system would be Mexican. I've never seen a pasty white, blond haired, blue eyed Mexican so I can fully understand why he's looking at the brown complexion, dark hair, dark eyed people especially when they speak only spanish and are in the lower socioeconomic areas of Phoenix and Maricopa County. Yah, there are probably some in Scottsdale, but I doubt it. They can't afford to live there. He's not profiling a damn thing. He's identifying the problem and trying to take care of it. They're here illegally and breaking the law. He took an oath to uphold the law. From what I can tell, he's doing the job he was elected to do. How upset would people be if he just looked the other way?

Seems now that the white house has pulled Sheriff Joe's authority to enforce immigration laws.

Do we need to remind some of the law makers that these people are ILLEGAL immigrants and therefore breaking the law?? Let's let them talk to the families who have suffered because of illegals like the Phoenix cop who was killed in the line of duty by an illegal immigrant who had already been deported once. The truly frustrating part is Napolitano is making it difficult for Arpaio to do his job and she's from AZ. I thought she'd definitely do something about the border issues. Guess I was wrong. Don't get me wrong...I have no issues with immigrants who come to this country legally, it's those who do it illegally and take advantage of the system that really **** me off.

Have to agree, I work with legal immigrants everyday, and it can be a real pain to stay legal, which they do. That it is the price they pay to be here, and they do not seem to against it, although some of the rules can be very troublesome. If they have their paperwork in place to be a permanent resident and change jobs, they have to start from scratch, which may mean years and thousands of dollars down the tube. But they still work do it, to stay here. In the last 4 years at where I work, at least 4 have become citizens.
