LED TVs are still LCD panels backlit with LEDs.
I got HD at the house.

What is suppose to be the advantage of the 240 Hz. I know it is suppose to be better for high speed stuff but is there anything else?

It is about how fast the screen or pixels refresh. It helps with high speed motion and minimizes blurring and flickering. Not everybody notices the issue so you will have to see it for yourself by comparing sets.

I still have an old fashioned, 12 year old, rear projection 62" RCA. I've compared it to the new stuff, and while I can tell a difference, I'm not blown away. They'll have to be a lot cheaper (For the larger screens) for me to trade off. I've been told that changing the bulb in my current set will put me even closer to the new sets.

I've had buddies laugh at my big box TV when they come over to watch a fight. They change their minds after it's turned on. The only gripe I have with it is viewing from an extreme angle, but they're made to be watched from the front anyway. I'll probably still be watching it untill the next big thing hits.
