Would you buy the V6
I know the HP and TQ numbers are still estimates but lets assume Ford puts a 400hp/400ft lb turbo V6 Ecoboost and a 400hp/400ft lb N/A V8 in the F150 in a few years. Just for the sake of arguement imagine the HP and torque curves were exactly the same. Lets also assume they are the same price. What if the V6 got 22 mpg and the V8 got 20. Which would you buy?
The V6 would seem like the logical choice, everything the same and better MPG. But how many of you would buy the V8? I'll admit it will be a little wierd pulling up in an FX4 sCrew and telling people you have V6. Would you make the "logical" choice or would you still go for the V8?

Yes.
But I wish it was diesel.
The whine of a turbine never gets old.
Then again, the noise of a diesel and the whine of turbine is the best.
But I'm really wondering how long these turbos will last... most people just turn off their truck and not let it idle 3-5 minutes.

V8 because they sound sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better than a 6. The MPG's wouldn't matter because it's a truck, and that should never be the primary reason for buying a truck.

With all things being equal as far as HP/Torque on the turbo v6 vs. v8, I'd want to know about the longevity of the turbo v6's internals compared to the v8.
A V8 diesel truck with an exhaust (even straight piped), sounds so much better than any gas V8 truck out there with an exhaust (and especially straight piped)......but then again, it would depend on the shade of red the owner's neck is.
Personally, I think dual exhaust on a truck should have gone out with the mullet.......but, by the same token, some people still sport a mullet and think they look cool.
Nothing says business in the front and a party out back like twice pipes.

Funny, I think that diesels sound like crap while gassers sound better. Of course diesels outperform gas engines in their truck duties, but have always seemed to be inconvenient to own. Oil changes are more expensive, excessive engine noise at all times, diesel fuel itself is more expensive that gasoline, and they stink (my biggest problem, can't stand to ride or drive in them because of the smell).
I loved racing against and watching the Grand Nationals and T-Types run back in 1986 and 1987. They were awesome cars off the line but ran out of engine on the top end in a 1/4. In an 1/8 mile, they were champs. I would have to see if these V6s are the same way.
